James Cameron, the director of Avatar movies, has claimed that many shots of Avatar 3 and 4 have already been filmed. In an Entertainment Weekly interview, he said that he wanted to avoid the cast’s ageing issue. As many new cast members have been added to Avatar: The Way of Water who will continue their stories in Avatar 3 and 4.

James Cameron, the director of Avatar: The Way of Water, said that he wanted to avoid the Stranger Things mishap. He said that the young cast members of Avatar: The Way of Water are growing like weeds, and it was important to take their shots in that period to avoid them looking older in Avatar 3 and 4.
Tuk (Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, who was 7 when cast and is now 13) and Spider (Taylor Tomlinson) are introduced in the film The Way of Water (Jack Champion, who was 12 when cast but is now 18). Cameron explained that Jack Champion was growing rapidly, which necessitated filming the whole second, third, and opening acts of the fourth movie simultaneously.
